Founder and Attorney at Law
Nicholas Chan
Nicholas Chan is the founder and principal attorney of The Chan Immigration Law Group, P.C., a firm dedicated to providing compassionate and effective immigration legal services. He is a proud member of both the California State Bar and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). With a robust foundation built over a decade as a founding partner of The Chan and Jang Law Firm LLP, which he co-founded in 2014, Nicholas brings extensive specialized expertise and a profound personal commitment to guiding individuals and families through the complexities of U.S. immigration law.
Inspired by his family’s immigrant journey, he guides clients through complex U.S. immigration law with empathy and strategic planning. His public service roots run deep, from clerking for Judge Socrates Peter Manoukian in Santa Clara County Superior Court to providing pro bono services for HIV positive immigrants via the AIDS Legal Referral Panel. Nicholas holds a J.D. from the University of the Pacific and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Daisy Aguilar Cruz
OFFICE MANAGER
Daisy is a dedicated Immigration Office Manager with a strong background as both a paralegal and manager. Daisy oversees day-to-day office operations, ensuring that all client cases are handled with accuracy, confidentiality, and care. She manages a team of administrative and legal staff, implements office procedures, and ensures compliance with all regulatory standards. With more than 5 years of experience as a manager, she is skilled in case management systems, scheduling platforms, and document processing tools, which she uses to streamline work and improve client outcomes.
A daughter of immigrants, Daisy’s passion for immigration law was shaped by her family’s personal experiences navigating the legal system. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Child Development from San Francisco State University, giving her a unique perspective on working with families and children through the immigration process.
Known for her leadership, empathy, and organizational strength, Daisy fosters a supportive, culturally sensitive environment for clients from diverse backgrounds. She is fluent in English and Spanish and is deeply committed to helping individuals and families navigate the complexities of immigration with professionalism and compassion.
Asusena Gil
Asusena is a dedicated paralegal with a strong focus on immigration law, working extensively on T visas, U visas, Violence Against Women Act -Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant, Affirmative Asylum, Removal Proceedings, Adjustment of Status - Permanent Residency, and Naturalization Cases. She holds a degree in Political Science with a concentration in Public Policy from the University of California, San Diego.
Her passion for immigration law is deeply rooted in personal experience—her father's immigration journey in the 1980s and her family's strong advocacy for immigrant rights have been major influences on her career path. These experiences have shaped her compassionate, client-centered approach to legal work.
With a long-term goal of attending law school, Susy brings not only legal knowledge and professionalism to her work, but also empathy, cultural understanding, and a deep commitment to justice and equity in the immigration system.

Itzy is a passionate and detail-oriented legal assistant with experience in a range of immigration and family law matters, including Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), Petitions for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant, as well as Custody, Probate, and Family Law cases. She holds a degree in Political Science with a minor in Legal Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Her commitment to immigration law is deeply personal—shaped by her and her mother’s asylum process in the 2000s. This experience inspired a lifelong dedication to supporting immigrant communities and advocating for those navigating the complexities of the legal system.
Itzy brings compassion, cultural awareness, and a strong sense of purpose to her work. She is especially driven by a desire to help build stronger, more inclusive communities through legal empowerment and support.

Ashley Karina Zamudio Lopez
Ashley is a dedicated legal assistant who plays a vital role in supporting our most vulnerable clients seeking Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS). She is instrumental in guiding juvenile clients through the complex initial stages of their immigration journey. Her exceptional expertise lies in navigating the diverse landscape of California’s county-specific rules governing probate and family law cases, which are often prerequisites for SIJS petitions. Ashley’s in-depth understanding of these varying local procedures allows her to efficiently manage cases across different jurisdictions, ensuring that necessary state court orders are obtained smoothly and effectively. Furthermore, she excels at conducting in-depth, sensitive interviews that help these young clients feel safe and confident as they navigate what can be a daunting legal process.
Before joining the legal field, she performed over six years of administrative work, during which she developed strong service, effective communication, and teamwork skills - foundations that now enhance her ability to support clients and collaborate within the legal team.
